GODTALK gets even MORE interactive! Greg and I are teaching a class on the emerging church movement through the Faculty of Theology at the University of Winnipeg.
Here is an excerpt from the course sheet:
Denominations are dying, churches are closing, but more people believe in God than ever before. What kind of church will emerge to meet their needs for spiritual engagement?
The University of Winnipeg’s Faculty of Theology is offering Emerging Church One to explore the answers to that question. Led by Greg Glatz and Marlo Boux, hosts of the long-running GODTALK Radio Show on CJOB 68, the course consists of readings, discussions, and activities that immerse participants in the church emerging around them.
Eight 3-hour sessions over 8 weeks. First session: Wednesday, January 13, 2010. This course counts for 1 credit hour in the Certificate in Theology program. For more info, see the promo sheet.
Register today! For more info, contact Chris Wells, Director of Studies at the Faculty of Theology, at (204) 786-9857 or ch.wells@uwinnipeg.ca.

What a timely subject! God bless!
Interesting blog. I agree that less and less people are attending church, but attending a strong bible-based church is a good thing.
Belonging to a strong bible-based church is a good thing. Do I believe if you don't go to church you are not a Christian, NO! The most important thing is to become born again. Each and every person on this earth needs to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior, repent of their sins, and ask Jesus to be the Lord of their lives. If you want eternal life in Heaven, please visit my site and look at the "Go to Heaven" category. Have a blessed day.
Michael: love your passion and focus.
I believe we can worship God and follow Jesus inside and outside the walls of the church. Whether we are in a sanctuary, or in a coffee shop - for some the best fit IS a sanctuary.
For others? An intimate setting to ask the really tough questions and get involved in meaningful discussion cannot happen in the church. It feels intimidating and overwhelming.
I love my church! But I also love the idea of doing church and hanging with Jesus in a more organic way, too.
I found out about your show through the Free Press article in yesterday's paper. I downloaded all of the podcasts and started listening today. So far I've only listened to older shows so I haven't heard you on the show yet, but I'll definitely keep listening.
I'm atheist and was drawn to your show because of what it says in the article about how you encourage people of all faiths or no faith to call in. That's what makes things interesting. I also listen to another show by podcast called "The Atheist Experience". It's a Texas-based show, but they encourage people to call in and say what they believe and why. I haven't been aware of anything like that in Winnipeg, but was glad to learn about your show because I love the dialogue between believers and non-believers.
When I saw that you had this class I was hoping that's what it was, because I've been craving a face-to-face forum for theist-atheist dialogue, but it looks like it's geared towards Christians. I was wondering if you know of any forum in Winnipeg where people gather to talk about beliefs? I have really bad anxiety about speaking in public so I probably won't be calling into the show, but I look forward to listening!
Hey Anon;
Honoured that you would listen and give the show a shot. We have a LOT of atheist listeners and I believe you would enjoy the show as well.
This class is open to ALL, not just Christians. As a matter of fact, Greg mentioned that very specifically in a show back in October, I believe, which you will hear when you get to it :) We love and appreciate all our listeners, we don't care what your background or belief is.
We're on live 9-11 sunday nights so feel free to listen live to the conversation. I used to have horrible social anxiety, BTW, so I understand on some level how that can be.
Feel free to connect with us on twitter and facebook too :)
