Three years ago on November 11th, Winnipeg lost an urban saint. Reverend Harry Lehotsky died of cancer leaving behind his family and community to mourn his loss. Harry took his church to the streets of Winnipeg, focusing his ministry on the troubled areas in the west end. He was dedicated to practical, real solutions for real problems that the inner city population faced.
As a former drug addict himself, he had a real understanding of what these people faced. Not only was Harry big on helping people, but he was big on having people accept accountability and responsibility for making positive change in their lives.
You can see a six minute video produced by Global called 'Saving Grace' here.
Tonight, November 5th, Winnipeg will gather once again to celebrate his life and remember him through the launch of the new book 'The Urban Saint: The Harry Lehotsky Story". Greg and I are emcee'ing the evening event. There will be refreshments, a panel discussion, and a book signing by Urban Saint author, Paul Boge.
This book launch celebration is open to the general public and you can grab all the event information here.
Join us as we celebrate the life of Reverend Harry Lehotsky and shine a light on the issues of social justice here in Winnipeg.
