YOUR Favorite Time-Saving Tip or Tool?

I LOVE time saving tips and tools. I also love to delegate :) My life has been in transition for the past year and as things change I constantly need to evaluate my priorities and how I spend my time. I have implemented a number of strategies to help balance home life and career. I hired a house cleaner to come weekly and help with the big cleaning duties. Important stuff that definitely needs to get done, but I decided that *I* don't have to be the one to do it.

Another time-saving tool I use from time to time is online grocery shopping. I can get up early with a cup of coffee and shop from my laptop. I order everything I need from a locally owned store and they deliver it the following day. It only costs $10 to deliver. When you think about gas money, the value of one's time, and the hassles of shopping, I will gladly pay $10 to have it show up at my door. I can't say I have been in love with the produce that I get through online ordering so I will continue to do that myself, but for grocery items and dairy it is an amazing way to save a TON of time and hassle.

Although I do most of my work from home, I DO have meetings to attend, and also need some quiet time to get my class work done. So the third strategy I've recently implemented is some part time child care. For 2 mornings a week, my 2 younger kids go for a play date and I take care of work that I cannot do well when I work alongside my kids.

So my top 3 time-savers are:
1. house cleaner
2. online grocery shopping
3. part time daycare/play dates

What are YOUR favorite time-saver tips or organization tools? Leave them in the comments section below. I'm always looking for new ways to help streamline a busy life.

Where did you find your housecleaner? How long does a cleaning session take? Do you mind sharing the cost? I am *enamored with the idea of professional house cleaning :)

Hey Jo;

If you are in Winnipeg area, I can provide you with my cleaning lady's info. I've had her for a few yrs. She does it privately, very reliable etc. She is looking to add new clients in spring too. So email me marloboux @ godtalkradioshow.com and I will get her info to you....she usually comes for about 3 hrs once per week etc.

I work at home and out of the home partime. I have a group of moms that I share play dates with kids. When they need a day off or coverage for work I repay them the favor.
Also, my daughter does not bus to and from school...I feel that she is too young. Another mom and myself share driving and rotate mornings and afternoons each month. It works out great. Also saves money and wear and tear on my vehicle.

Then Comes Wife: A Manhattan Wife's Journey Back to Tradition

I live in Manhattan and all day I am surrounded by housekeepers, nannies and doormen. That's all before I step out of my building! I don't have any children yet, so I have found my chores manageable if I stay of schedule.

Sounds like you are on the right track.

btw...I added by tag..if you don't mind :)

Anon: Love how you share childcare and car pool duties - very resourceful!

Manhattan Wife: visited your blog - super cute. I see you like IKEA too :) Come back and visit me again some time.

cheers,

I consider myself really blessed. My husband and I are missionaries in the Philippines. Most of our days are extremely busy so like you, we have a very nice lady who comes in three times a week to clean our home and wash our clothes. Apartment spaces are tiny here -- no room for washing machines! She also helps out a lot by running errands for me such as paying my bills, mailing letters and grabbing a missing ingredient from a grocery store. She is a blessing to us!

I need the occasional pampering too. Manila is a gold mine of home service manicures and pedicures. I get my feet scrubbed and polished every 2 weeks for only $5!

Samantha - that is amazing. It keeps you focused on what God has called you to do. I love that. Glad you take time to pamper yourself. I am a HUGE fan of pedicures and massages :)
